St. John in the Wilderness is one of the oldest and finest churches in Nainital. Dating back to 1844, the church is located in Mallital at the northern end of the resplendent Lake Naini.
For a tourist, apart from the religious importance that the church holds, the most appealing aspect of the church is the beautiful stained glass windows. For the ones interested in history, the church has a memorial commemorating the victims of the 1880 landslide in Nainital that killed over 150 people.
