Nanital Zoo- High Altitude Zoo In Nanital

It is the only wildlife establishment of its kind in the state of Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Sher ka Danda Hills, perched at an altitude of 2100 metres above the sea level, it covers a total geographical area of 4.693 hectares.

The High Altitude Zoo is covered with beautiful flora, which includes some rare flowering and ornamental plants. Oak plantations are found in abundance at this place, which is also dotted with flowers of Rhododendron, Berberis, Acer, Rose, Acacia and Hibiscus.

It is home to a wide variety of wildlife species, which include the Siberian Tiger, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Goral, Himalayan Martin and Tibetan Wolf. In addition to these mountainous animals, the zoo has rich avifauna that consists of beautiful birds like Babblers, Woodpeckers, Hill Partridges and a large variety of Pheasants.

• Opening Closing Time Daily: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (Closed on Mondays)
Photography is permitted within the zoo premises, for which visitors have to pay a fixed charge at the entrance. They can click pictures of different animals and birds along with the appealing flora.

Watching wild animals from close quarters would excite kids as well as educate them at the same time.
